Renewable generation provided a new record of 742 million MWh of electricity in 2018, which is nearly double the 382 million MWh produced in 2008. Renewables Energy Generation Could Soon Beat Nuclear
Electrical generation by the mix of hydro and non-hydro renewables may soon permanently overtake nuclear power by 2020, as reported in the March 6th edition of Solar Industry news. The growth in solar generation over the past decade has been staggering. Electrical generation by solar – utility-scale and distributed, combined – in 2018 was more than 100 times greater than that reported by the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) a decade earlier.
